Clos Fourtet

Clos Fourtet

http://www.closfourtet.com/fr/

The smallest vineyard of Saint-Emilion, the vineyards of Château Les Grandes Murailles contiguous to Clos Fourtet belong to the Cuvelier family since 2013. This vineyard completes the acquisition of Château Poujeaux in 2008 and Château Côte de Baleau in 2013.

Together Clos Fourtet and the imposing Great Wall nearby are emblematic symbols of Saint-Emilion. The magnificence of the Dominican monastery of the 13th century remains only a huge vestige of stone, survivor of the fire. The building was abolished by the soldiers during the Hundred Years War and the monks who lived there found refuge in the city walls.

Philippe Cuvelier acquired Clos Fourtet in 2001 and entrusted the management of the estate to his son Matthieu. In a constant quest for excellence, they invest and oversee progressive changes in the field. Very involved and passionate about this land, they will make the choice to lead the vineyard with biological and biodynamic treatments.

Together, they look after this jewel with care and passion, so that it can be passed on to future generations.
