Description

Previously apprentices at the Bollinger champagne house in Aÿ, the young men Peter Geldermann and William Deutz moved to the small town of 4,000 inhabitants and set up their own business in 1838. At first, they bought bottled wines, disgorged, measured and labelled them.

Over time, however, the Deutz & Geldermann company endeavoured to acquire its own vineyard plots in the most prestigious locations.

It had an eventful history, with ups and downs, before being bought out in 1993 by champagne giant Louis Roederer, who once again put Deutz products at the top of the quality ladder.

The grapes processed by Deutz are of the highest quality and all come from Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites within a 30km radius of Aÿ.
