Description
The Pian della Vigne estate, located approximatelyfour miles (six kilometers) from the town of Montalcino, takes its name from a characteristic 19th centuryrailroad station located on the estate's grounds. The property consist of some 460 totalacres (184 hectares), 160 of which (65 hectares)are planted to vines in vineyards with a southeastern exposure at 425 feet (130 meters)above sealevel.
Pian della Vigne has followed the philosophy of
aging in large casks which preserves the exceptional integrity of the fruit of the Sangiovese grape and endows
Brunello with its characteristicsvibrant elegance. The estate has belonged to the Antinori familysince 1995, the
year of the first Pian delle Vigne vintage.
Tasting
Eye : Intense ruby red.
Nose : Scents of blackberries, cloves, undergrowth, black truffles, dried fruit and nuts, but also hints of vanilla and cocoa.
Palate : It shows a full and velvety structure. The aromas of the nose are repeated. Delicate and balanced, with a lot of melt and finesse.
Food and wine pairing : This Brunello takes beef as well as veal or lamb.
