Tasting
2011
Apparence : lovely garnet-red colour with hints of pink.
Aroma : The bouquet is revealed with swirling, offering dark berry notes of blackberry and cherry, with a slight development towards truffle, and a refreshing touch of spice.
Palate : features a fresh, welcoming attack which develops into supple, but ever-present tannins. This wine is very well-balanced, and promises to age well. It has a long, soft, and slightly spiced finish.
This vintage is a good example of the Ferrand terroir and of great things to come. A GREAT CLASSIC
2012Appearence : velvety and the colour slightly liquorice-tinted, while the structure is fine.
Aroma : the spicy bouquet is intense
Palate : the tannins fine, silky and very rounded on the palate.
This is an excellent, nicely-balanced vintage that is characteristic of its appellation and also reveals the huge potential of Ferrand.
2013
Appearance : Red colour with hints of purple.
Aroma : An elegant and complex bouquet with spice, red fruit and floral aromas.
Palate : The wine displays good balance, with refined and elegant tannins which remain well integrated within the aromatic whole. The freshness adds finesse and length on the palate.
The 2013 can be enjoyed from
now onwards, and like all Château de Ferrand vintages will gain in complexity
and maturity as it ages
