Description
The Pian della Vigne estate, located approximatelyfour miles (six kilometers) from the town of Montalcino, takes its name from a characteristic 19th centuryrailroad station located on the estate's grounds. The property consist of some 460 totalacres (184 hectares), 160 of which (65 hectares)are planted to vines in vineyards with a southeastern exposure at 425 feet (130 meters)above sealevel.
Pian della Vigne has followed the philosophy of
aging in large casks which preserves the exceptional integrity of the fruit of the Sangiovese grape and endows
Brunello with its characteristicsvibrant elegance. The estate has belonged to the Antinori familysince 1995, the
year of the first Pian delle Vigne vintage.

The 2013 Pian della Vigne showsa brilliant rubyred color.
The nose is delicate and complex with notes of ripe fruit, cherries,and plums, perfectly balanced with sensations of dried and candied fruitand spices.
The palate isample with supple tanninsand is enlivened bya note ofvibrantacidity with fully brings out the intense persistence and pleasure of itsaromas.
The finish offers hints of tobacco, dark chocolate,and berryfruit. An extremely elegantand bracinglysavory wine of great finesse.
