Description

Quinta do Vallado, founded in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous estates in the Douro Valley.

It is located on the banks of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro River, right next to its mouth and near the town of Peso da Régua.

The Quinta belonged to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and remains in the hands of her descendants to this day.

A rare wine, which comes from century-old vines from a small plot overlooking the Rio Torto (one of the Douro's tributaries). So old and so resistant, they provide only 400 grams of fruit per vine, which produces a maximum of 4,000 bottles.

A unique wine because it is a blend of more than 30 grape varieties, a common practice in past centuries.

A rare red, because it is only made in exceptional years.

Tasting

AROMA : Very concentrated with balsamic notes of oak, fig, and black fruits

FLAVOUR : Full-bodied, firm, ripe with satin tannins. Mineral notes and a complex and persistent finish, very elegant and fresh.
