Maison Joseph Drouhin
Côte de Nuits-Villages 2012
aoc

Cépage Pinot Noir
Sol clay and limestone
Elevage in barrels (10% in a new oak)

Description

The name "Côte de Nuits" comes from the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, like Beaune, the capital of its own Côte (or slope).

Tasting

"A delicious red Burgundy, with harmonious flavours. Bright ruby colour. On the nose, intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice and mild spices, evolving towards notes of undergrowth and mushroom. On the palate, excellent balance between tannin, acidity and "gras" (velvety texture). The aftertaste is reminiscent of little red berries".

Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin

Vintage

The wines offer a good breadth. The tannic structure is not too present. In Côte de Beaune the wines are more heterogeneous and some of themcan be drunk. In Côte de Nuits they display deeper intensity and maturity and their evolution is slower.
