Maison Joseph Drouhin
Nuits Saint-Georges 2009
aoc

Cépage Pinot Noir
Sol limestone
Elevage in barrels (20% in a new oak)

Description

An emblematic wine, closely linked to the gastronomy of Burgundy. Great chefs, such as Escoffier, and Brillat-Savarin (the famous cook-book writer), have praised these wines very highly.

Tasting

"Deep red colour. The aromas are powerful and elegant, with notes of cherry and blackberry, as well as hints of cedar wood evolving towards gamey touches. On the palate: beautiful balance between structure and softness. The long aftertaste is reminiscent of fruit syrups and mild spices".

Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin

Vintage

The wines are very generous with ample character. The tannic structure is quite strong but ripe. The acidity level is fairly low. To be drunk or to be kept, the choice will be difficult as they are already full of charm, but also well-balanced, which is a sign of a good ageing potential. 2009 is showing its breed and will rightfully take its place among those vintages ending in "9" in the last century, as well as 2005, 1978, 1961...
