Maison Joseph Drouhin
Volnay 2009
aoc

Cépage Pinot Noir
Sol marl and limestone
Elevage in barrels (20% in a new oak)

Description

Because of the purity of its air, Volnay was apparently the favorite residence of the ladies at the court of the Duke of Burgundy. The other attraction was of course the charm of its wines.

Tasting

"A wine of great elegance with a vivid and bright colour. When the wine is young, the aromas are reminiscent of violet and black currant. With age, the aromas take on notes of ripe or candied fruit, mushroom and mild spices. On the palate, a pleasant sensation of roundness and velvety texture. Long aftertaste, with touches of candied fruit and vanilla".

Tasting note by Véronique Boss-Drouhin

Vintage

Frank, clear ruby red colour; the bouquet is reminiscent of red fruit along with an attractive and ripe mouth. This is a consequence of an excellent maturity of the berries. They could be enjoyed from now as they are already delicious. 2009 is showing its breed and will rightfully take its place among those vintages ending in "9" in the last century, as well as 2005, 1978, 1961...
