Description
The Zéphirine Pinot Noir is a barrel selection cuvée from the Roserock vineyard, and is a reference
expression of the site. Zéphirine conveys purity and beauty, reflects winemaker Véronique Drouhin's
dedication to elegance and finesse, and will age meaningfully for years to come. The name refers to the
Zéphirine Drouhin variety of climbing rose, which is known for its fragrance and beauty.
Tasting
2014 is already considered a classic Oregon vintage. A long, warm growing season and a relaxed,
bountiful harvest has given us Pinot Noir with lovely color, beautiful fruit-forward character, excellent
balance and the structure to age well. It is a perfect way to debut Roserock.
Zéphirine has a deep, rosewood color. On the nose, there is clear energy, and layers upon layers of
violets, delicate roses, small berries and brush. On the palate, there is a wealth of blue and black fruit flavors balanced
by excellent structure and fine tannins. As a whole, Zéphirine exudes complexity and refinement, and leads to
a very long, satisfying finish. It will be lovely to experience as it ages over the next 8-10 years or more.
