Maison Joseph Drouhin
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru - Pucelles 2018
aoc

Cépage Chardonnay
Sol limestone
Elevage 12 to 15 months in barrels (25% in new oak)

Description

The central part of the Côte de Beaune is dedicated to great wines, the prestigious Côte des Blancs, of which Puligny Montrachet is a part. A few steps away from Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachet, it is today one of the most esteemed white Premiers Crus in the Côte de Beaune.

In the Middle Ages, it is said that the lord of Puligny divided his lands between his children:

The eldest son or "chevalier
The daughters or "pucelles

The "bastard".

Tasting

"The wine of Pucelles is a beautiful pale gold colour, very bright.

It delivers racy, flowery aromas of lime blossom and pastry, with hints of candied lemon peel and almond paste. The nose becomes even finer with the maturation of the years, giving rise to notes of roasted dried fruit or rusk, honeyed biscuit and syrup.

On the palate, finesse and seduction, freshness and silkiness come together, and the aromas linger for many minutes.
