Description

On the label, the name of the distillery is accompanied by the words 'Boynsmill'. This name refers to the property built in 1826 by James Allardice, where the distillery was originally settled and where GlenDronach whisky was first aged in sherry casks. At that time the distillery was an association of local farmers and merchants. Thanks to an earl named Earl of Gordon, the spirit was sold to the London nobility and quickly gained in popularity. Today, the production process is still based on regional ingredients, for example barley is bought from nearby farms. As the Bronac Burn is located in the immediate vicinity of the distillery, fresh spring water is drawn from it.

Tasting

Aged in port and Spanish sherry casks (PX & Oloroso), the whisky has a powerful body and subtle fruitiness. Aromas of plum and apricot are topped by spicy nutmeg and fruity quince notes. On the palate, memories of juicy fruitcake, walnuts and dates are added and continue into a long, rich and velvety finish.
